How To Wire Battery Isolator

Seriously looking into a battery isolator on our 2005 Honda Ody. After the alternator and battery failed this past August while driving home from Maine. I want to put in place something that will protect them both. Karenna Morrowind Mod here. The charging line goes from the battery to the 7-pin. It does have a circuit breaker installed just after it comes off the battery.

How many of you folks have an isolator installed and how easy was it to install? I did a search on this and did not really find what I was looking for. So please excuse me if this has been talked about before.

I guess my concern is that the pup battery is going to be low after camping with no hookups after 4 nights. It is going to want to charge as fast as possible. So it is really sharing the charge circuit with the TV battery. Also when cranking the TV the pup battery is not isolated from the TV battery and therefore could be drawn upon while cranking. The isolator will do just that, isolate it from being drawn upon while cranking.

It will also allow the TV battery to come up to a full charge (13.2v) before allowing the pup battery to connect to the charge circuit. It will also allow you to leave the trailer plugged in while sightseeing in the event you forgot to unplug the trailer!

I'm just trying to see how many folks use it and how many of those folks installed it themselves and how easy was it and what brand they went with. Last Agust I laid out $600. I ran a 14 gauge wire direct from the battery thru the relay to the 7 pin connected and used a15 amp inline fuse. This isolates the tow vehicle from the trailer when the ignition is off but charges the battery while driving. It was alot easier to wire this than add the isolator.
