About THIS torrent I have upscaled this DVD rip just a little, as this program uses a lot of film grain, so any pixelation would make that film grain look terrible, so the aspect ratio needs to be kept intact. And the picture reasonably close to it's source resolution (720x576).
This way it can be upscaled enough, without losing the image. The grain still does affect it a bit, but the action scenes, where you normally expect an encode to show it's flaws, they remove the film grain and they look great. These are reasonably large files, but we kept the high quality audio and these files are anywhere between 55 mins to 1hr 10 minutes. So they are long, each episode it tweaked against it's length to squeeze in the max bitrate without going over quota. Which, was roughly a 1 gig per episode except for the really long ones.
So while it may not break any records, Roughly speaking I have turned 95 gig of video into just over 9.5 gig So%10 of the original size is actually what I was aiming for.
